Tyrone sits where Concession Road 7 crosses Liberty Street North, around Tyrone Mills, a water powered mill built in 1846 and still working, and a short way from the farm where Robert McLaughlin built two horse drawn cutters in 1867. Liberty Street is Regional Road 14 and Durham Region clears it. Concession Road 7 and the side roads are Clarington. Your own lane is yours.
There is a figure I will not give you
Somebody will tell you that a hamlet twelve kilometres inland gets a set percentage more snow than the lakeshore does. I am not going to repeat it. The average people quote around here, 105.8 centimetres a year over about 27 days, is an Environment and Climate Change Canada reading taken at Oshawa Harbour, on the water, and I have not seen a measurement for this ground that I would stand behind. A number I invented would sell better than an honest gap in what I know. You are buying a winter from me, so you should know which of the two you are being handed.
What I can measure is the lane. The village runs from century homes on small lots to hobby farms with several hundred feet between the road and the house, and that length decides what a morning costs far more than the height above the lake does.
How a lane is measured here, and what each hundred feet of it costs
Two readings set the price: the lot and the lane. Whichever of them sits higher is the one that decides the band, so a small village lot with 300 feet of lane prices as the lane rather than as the lot. Past 400 feet of laneway there is $200 for every additional 100 feet on top of the band. It is printed here so that you can work your own number out before you ring, and so the figure I give you on the telephone is the one you already have in front of you.
| Band | Lot | Seasonal snow | Gold membership |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard. | Up to 0.35 acre | $800 small, $975 standard, $1,200 large | $189 a month |
| Estate. | 0.35 to 1.0 acre, or a driveway over 100 ft | $1,750 | $349 a month |
| Grand Estate. | 1.0 to 3.0 acres, or a laneway over 250 ft | $2,600 | $519 a month |
HST goes on top of each of those. Salt on its own is $25 a trip and the windrow on its own is $45. All three memberships, side by side.
What starts a Tyrone morning, and in what order
Three centimetres, measured on the ground rather than forecast. Under that depth no blade goes onto a residential property and nobody needs to telephone me. Once the depth is there, Platinum runs first to a 6:30 AM target and Gold to a 7 AM target, both of them targets rather than promises, and Silver takes a daytime windrow pass that is finished by 5 PM.
Clarington will not take the ridge off the end of your lane at any age out here. The municipal windrow work is a paid program tied to an urban residential address, and what it costs and who it is genuinely for is written out on the Hampton page.
Asked and answered before anybody books
Do you serve Tyrone, or do you stop at Bowmanville?
Tyrone is served. It is a hamlet inside Clarington and it sits on the same winter run as the rest of the municipality, so getting here costs you nothing extra.
Does being on higher ground mean more snow falls on me?
Probably, and I will still not put a percentage on it. The published average for this area was measured at Oshawa Harbour, down on the water, and your lane is not down on the water.
My lane runs about 300 feet up from Concession 7. What band is that?
Grand Estate on the lane alone, whatever the lot measures: $2,600 for the season, or Gold at $519 a month plus HST. Past 400 feet it is another $200 for each 100 feet.
Is salt included or is it extra?
On Gold it goes down on any visit that is already happening, and a salt only call out is $25 on a standard lot. Platinum carries unlimited automatic salting. Silver carries none at any depth.

Tyrone is served as part of Clarington
Tyrone is a Clarington village and is cleared on the Clarington route. Snow removal in Clarington is the service this page prices, and the municipality wide figures sit on the Clarington page.
Country driveways around Tyrone are longer than the regional average and are quoted on the long driveway page rather than from the standard band. Lawn care in Durham Region through the summer runs on the same membership, and grass cutting in Bowmanville is the nearest town page for it.

Andrew answers, October 2026
What happens if it snows all day instead of overnight?
The first pass opens a lane out to the road, the walkway and the steps, so you can get out. Then the whole route gets that same first pass. Then, once the snow stops, we come back for the full clear: full width to the pavement, the windrow off at the road, piles tidied and salt down again. If it looks half done at eight in the morning in heavy snow, that is deliberate and we are already on the way back. There is no extra charge for the second visit.
One of these goes on each page and it is replaced monthly. If the question you have is not here, ask it: 905-244-5779.
Price a Tyrone lane on the telephone
Tell me where the lane leaves the road, roughly how far it runs and what the lot measures, and I can give you the band and the monthly figure while we are still on the call. Lawn and snow together start at $129 a month plus HST. Book by November 1 for a place on the winter route.
Green in summer. Clear in winter.
