November 1 to May 1
Acreage snow removal in Durham Region.
Acreage snow removal in Durham Region is built into our route rather than squeezed onto the end of it, because a private laneway is a different job from a subdivision driveway. The price for it is published.
Green in summer. Clear in winter.
Why acreage is different, and it is not the snowfall
The same storm lands on your property as on a subdivision lot. What changes is the distance. On a quarter acre you push the snow to the edge of the lawn. On two acres you carry it, every storm, and by February the banks decide where it can go at all.
The second difference is what the laneway is made of. Asphalt takes a blade from the first flake. Gravel does not: the stone stays loose until the base underneath has frozen hard, which in most Durham winters lands in the first half of December. On gravel the season opens on a condition, not on a date.
That also changes what goes down for ice and what the spring costs. Our guide to clearing a gravel driveway sets both out.
What acreage costs for the winter
The seasonal snow package is $1,750 plus HST from 0.35 to 1.0 acre and $2,600 plus HST from 1.0 to 3.0 acres, unlimited from November 1 to May 1. Past 400 feet of laneway, and above three acres, the number is worked out on the call. The full ladder is on the estate pricing page.
What is included on an acreage property
The laneway, end to end
From the road to the garage, and the turning area at the top. Unlimited visits at a 3 cm trigger, with a 7 AM target after overnight snow.
Walkways and steps
The path to the door cleared to the surface, not a single shovel width, and the steps salted.
Salting, inside the price
Salting is in the package rather than billed per application. On a long laneway that is the line that surprises people on somebody else's invoice.
Acreage questions
What does acreage snow removal cost in Durham Region?
$1,750 plus HST from 0.35 to 1.0 acre, and $2,600 plus HST from 1.0 to 3.0 acres, unlimited all winter. Longer laneways carry a published surcharge on top.
Do you service rural properties outside the towns?
We serve Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax, Pickering, Bowmanville, Courtice and Clarington, including the rural parts of each: the concession roads, the hamlets and the estate lots between them.
Can you get up my laneway before the road is plowed?
Usually, and here is the honest caveat: if the regional road into your concession has not been opened, nobody is reaching you, us included.
Is there a cheaper option if I only want the laneway?
There is one package and it covers the driveway, the walkway and the salting together. A laneway only product created two prices for one job, so we stopped selling it.
What we will not promise you
If your laneway is gravel we will not start clearing it on November 1, whatever a contract says, and telling you that in September costs us bookings we would otherwise take. A frozen base is what keeps your stone in the laneway instead of on the lawn.
Acreage snow removal across Durham Region
Snow removal in Durham Region on an acreage is not the residential service with a bigger number on it. The measurement is different, the time on site is different, and the price follows the measured surface rather than a band.
Residential snow removal in Durham Region on a standard lot is priced from the town pages: Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax, Pickering, Bowmanville and Courtice. A single long laneway on an otherwise standard property is priced on the long driveway page.

Is the 3 cm trigger measured at my house or somewhere else?
On the route, not at an airport. Three centimetres is the depth at which a residential driveway stops being something you can drive out of, so that is where the number is set. Below it we are still out, but it is salt and the walkway rather than the blade, and that happens without you asking for it.
One of these goes on each page and it is replaced monthly. If the question you have is not here, ask it: 905-244-5779.
Acreage priced on the telephone, not at your gate
Give us the acreage, the laneway length and whether it is gravel or asphalt. That is enough for a real number, and booking closes November 1.
