The services that actually improve a lawn
Core aeration: $110 to $220
A machine pulls thousands of soil plugs about three inches deep, relieving the compaction that stops water, air and fertilizer reaching the roots. On a compacted lawn most of what you put down simply runs off.
We make two passes at right angles, because one pass doesn't open enough holes to matter. The plugs stay on the surface: they look untidy for a fortnight, then break down and feed the lawn. Raking them up throws away most of the benefit.
Aeration + overseeding: $175 to $380
The single most effective thing that can be done for a thin or patchy lawn, and the two halves have to happen together.
We aerate, then broadcast fresh seed so it falls into the open holes. That's the entire point: seed landing on thatch dries out and never germinates, while seed touching soil grows. Afterwards it needs light watering two or three times a day for two to three weeks: that part is on you, and it decides whether it works.
5-step fertilizer: $300 to $600/season
Five feedings timed across the season rather than one heavy application, totalling 3 to 4 lb of actual nitrogen per 1,000 sq ft: the Ontario guidance figure.
Each does a different job: slow-release nitrogen in late April, a balanced feed in June, a low-nitrogen application through summer heat, the most important feeding in September, and a high-potassium winterizer in late October.
September into early October is the aeration window
The soil is still warm enough for fast germination but the air has cooled, and there's no summer weed pressure competing with new grass. Do it in July and it fails. Do it in November and it's too late.
It's a six-week window and the first three weeks of September are the best of it, so book in August. If you are overseeding as well, those three weeks are the sale: the seed needs warm soil and time to root before frost, so it is the seed and not the machine that closes the window. Platinum members have it included and just need to tell us a preferred week.
Spring aeration is a narrow case (severe compaction on a lawn being renovated wholesale), rather than a routine option. Ask us and we'll tell you honestly which one yours is.
Beds and shrubs
Garden and shrub work
Mulch supply & install: $110/yard
Fresh bark mulch laid at two to three inches: the depth that actually blocks weed seed. Thinner and weeds come through; thicker and you start suffocating roots.
We pull it back from every trunk and leave a clear gap at the base of each tree. Piling mulch against bark holds moisture on the trunk, rots it, and kills the tree over a few seasons. One yard covers roughly 108 sq ft at three inches: most properties need two to four.
Garden bed maintenance: $75/hour
Hand weeding, edging, cultivating and tidying so the beds look as sharp as the lawn.
Everything is pulled by hand and by the root rather than sprayed: Ontario's rules mean spraying isn't an option for this work, and hand weeding is more thorough anyway. Most properties need this two or three times a season; we can quote a set number of visits so it isn't an open-ended hourly meter.
Hedge & shrub trimming: $85/hour
Shaped to your preference, with one rule we don't bend: the base stays wider than the top.
It looks counterintuitive, but a hedge cut wider at the top shades its own lower branches, and those go bare and never recover. Keeping the taper means light reaches the bottom and the hedge stays full for years. Every clipping is cleaned up before we leave.
Seasonal
Cleanups and one-off visits
Spring cleanup: $180 to $425
Winter debris cleared, matted grass and snow mould raked out, beds cleaned and cut back, everything re-edged, surface drains and window wells cleared, and a first mow once the turf is growing.
Included free in every membership. Priced individually if you're not a member, or if you want an extra visit.
Fall cleanup: $200 to $475
Full leaf removal from lawn and beds, drains and downspouts cleared, perennials cut back, a final cut slightly shorter than usual, and a complete blow-off.
Also included free in every membership. If your trees drop late it's often a two-visit job, and we'll tell you upfront rather than surprising you afterwards.
One-time lawn cut: $40 to $75
A full cut, not just a mow: edge, mow, trim and blow off, with clippings returned to the turf. For when you're away, behind, or selling.
Snow, per visit: $45 to $95
Driveway cleared once, on request. Worth being straight about one thing: per-visit work is fitted around our seasonal members, who are cleared first. In a big storm that can mean afternoon rather than before 7 AM. If getting out in the morning matters, the seasonal membership is the one built around the 7 AM target.

What we don't do: and who to call instead
Tree work above ladder height. That's a certified arborist's job, and it's a genuine safety and insurance matter rather than modesty. We'll refer you to someone good.
Irrigation repair, hardscaping, sod installation and grading. Outside what we do. We have a contact for each and will hand you over by name.
Weed spraying. Not legal for cosmetic use on Ontario lawns, and commercial application requires an exterminator licence. The honest answer is density: a thick, well-fed lawn crowds weeds out on its own, which is what the fertilizer program is for.
Add-on questions
Do I need to be a member to book these?
No. Anyone can book any service on this page as a one-off. Calling us once a year for a fall cleanup and never taking a membership is completely fine.
Will you add these to my bill automatically?
Never. Add-ons are quoted and approved separately every single time. Nothing gets added to your monthly payment without you saying yes first.
Is it cheaper to just take a membership?
If you're booking two or three of these a year, almost always. A Gold membership works out about $712 a year cheaper than buying the same work service by service, and it happens on schedule without you having to remember to arrange it. That comparison is priced at our medium-property rates (Agreement §2): on a small property the same list is $2,220 and on a large one $4,050, against a Gold membership of $2,268, so we quote your own property before you commit.
How far ahead do I need to book?
Aeration in September books out fast, so ask in August. Cleanups need a week or two of notice in peak season. One-time cuts we can usually fit within a few days.
