Why Oshawa is the town I would rather have on one payment
Oshawa is the home base. The first driveway of the day and the last one are on the same side of the same city, so there is no distance to make up before your street gets reached, in July or in February.
The other half of it is the ground you are standing on. Oshawa sits on clay and clay loam, which holds water through a wet spring and sets hard through a dry August, so the lawn here does not want two visits and a cheque. It wants the same pair of hands on it from May, so that the aeration in September is done by somebody who watched what the lawn did in July. That is the whole argument for one membership rather than two seasonal contracts, and the snow half of the year is the same argument turned round.

North Oshawa is still being built
Windfields and Kedron are not finished, and that changes what the property needs rather than just what the street looks like. A first year lawn up there is sod laid over subsoil a builder has had loaded trucks standing on, so it wants a higher cut for two summers and no aeration until the second September. The driveway is the easy half: wide, newly sealed, and bare to the pavement in one pass.
The mature Oshawa neighbourhoods
Samac, Eastdale, Pinecrest, Centennial and Rossland are the opposite job. The trees are forty years up, which is shade on the lawn all summer and a serious weight of leaf in October, and the turf under them has been mown by somebody every year since the houses went in. What it has usually never had is aeration, and on ground like that it is the one job that changes anything. What a year on one membership covers
From May 1 to November 1 the lawn is cut weekly, roughly 26 visits, with a spring and a fall cleanup included. The same payment carries the winter from November 1 to May 1.

Two things move that, and neither is a spray: cutting at three inches so the turf shades its own root zone, and core aeration in September.

In north Oshawa that means MacInally Court, Fleetwood Drive, Clearbrook Drive, Wadebridge Crescent, Iribelle Avenue, Surrey Drive and French Street. Further south it means Harris Avenue, Goodman Drive, Ritson Road South and Athol Street East. There are two commercial sites as well, one of them on King Street West.
Nineteen is not a lot and we are not going to dress it up. It is the first year. What it does mean is that every one of those driveways is on a route somebody can name, and that if your town says open above, you would be the first one on it rather than the last one served. Counted by hand from the client list and re-counted on the day a contract is signed.

What happens if it snows all day instead of overnight?
The first pass opens a lane out to the road, the walkway and the steps, so you can get out. Then the whole route gets that same first pass. Then, once the snow stops, we come back for the full clear: full width to the pavement, the windrow off at the road, piles tidied and salt down again. If it looks half done at eight in the morning in heavy snow, that is deliberate and we are already on the way back. There is no extra charge for the second visit.
