Hampton sits where Old Scugog Road meets Taunton Road. Taunton is Regional Road 4 and Durham Region clears it. Old Scugog and the village streets belong to Clarington. Between the two fleets sits a driveway apron neither one has any duty to touch. There is a tracker that will show you when a plow went down your road. What no tracker anywhere will tell you is when somebody cleared the ground between that road and your garage.

Two fleets, one ridge, and nobody who owes you the apron

Durham Region runs Taunton on one schedule and Clarington runs Old Scugog Road and the village streets on another. Both of them are doing the job properly when they finish. Neither job includes the few metres between the road and your garage. Whichever blade goes past last is the one that walls the entrance shut, and it does it with the heaviest snow of the storm, because a blade has already compressed everything it was carrying.

That compressed ridge is the windrow. It is not what fell on your property. It is road snow, packed hard, dropped in a line across the apron, and it is the part of a Hampton morning that beats a shovel.

What Silver covers here, and what it leaves with you

Silver does not plow the driveway and has no 7 AM target. It takes the municipal windrow off the end after every storm, a daytime pass on the same day the member route runs, after the municipal plow has been through, cleared by 5 PM, plus four banked clears a season on request.

Read that twice before you choose it. Silver is a windrow tier, not a driveway tier, and it carries no salting at any depth. If what you want is the whole surface opened before the working day starts, that is Gold at a 7 AM target or Platinum at 6:30, and both of those times are targets rather than guarantees. The blade goes out once 3 cm has been measured on the ground, never on a forecast, and under that depth there is no push on a residential property at all.

There is a version of this you should buy from Clarington instead of from me

Clarington does run a windrow clearing program: $107.69 including HST for the 2026 to 27 season, up to three feet of apron. If you live in urban Bowmanville or Courtice, are 65 or older or living with a disability, and your home fronts onto a municipal street, register with Clarington rather than hiring me. I cannot clear an apron for a whole season for $107.69. In Hampton the door is shut whatever your age is, because the test is about where you live, and Clarington publishes the rule in full.

A short village driveway does not need a whole winter bought for it

If yours is one car wide, paved, ends at the street, and somebody is home with a shovel most mornings, then buying a winter from me is more than the property needs. The only part a shovel really loses to is that packed ridge, and I will come and take it off on its own for $45 a trip. Ring me for that and nothing else. I would rather sell you the small thing that works than the large thing that does not.

Village lot or acreage: the band your Hampton property falls in

The historic core and the estate lots on the edges are two different jobs at two different prices, and you should be able to find yours without ringing anybody.

BandLotSeasonal snowGold membership
Standard.Up to 0.35 acre$800 small, $975 standard, $1,200 large$189 a month
Estate.0.35 to 1.0 acre, or a driveway over 100 ft$1,750$349 a month
Grand Estate.1.0 to 3.0 acres, or a laneway over 250 ft$2,600$519 a month

All prices are plus HST. Past 400 feet of laneway, add $200 for every further 100 feet. Lot size and driveway length both set the band, and the higher of the two readings is the one that applies, because whichever is bigger is the one deciding how long the property takes. A salt only trip is $25 and a windrow trip on its own is $45. See what each membership clears.

What people on Old Scugog Road ask me first

Do you actually come out to Hampton, or only to Bowmanville and Courtice?

Hampton is a community inside Clarington, and Clarington is one of the seven towns I already serve. It is on the run, not at the edge of it, and there is no surcharge for the distance.

What is a windrow, exactly?

It is the ridge of road snow a plow leaves across the end of your driveway. It is not the snow that fell on your property, and it is heavier than that snow, because the blade packed it on the way past.

Can I buy the windrow on its own without a membership?

Yes. One windrow trip is $45 plus HST. On Silver it is part of the membership after every storm, plus four banked clears a season on request.

What time is Gold finished?

Gold is sequenced to a 7 AM target and Platinum to 6:30. Both of those are targets rather than guarantees, because the size of the storm decides how long the morning takes and I will not promise you something the weather controls.

Hampton is served as part of Clarington

Hampton is a village inside Clarington and is cleared on the Clarington route. Snow removal in Clarington is the service this page prices, and Clarington covers Hampton alongside Courtice, Bowmanville and Newcastle.

Village lots and acreage on the edges of Hampton are not the same job and are not quoted the same way. A long or exposed driveway is priced on the long driveway page and anything measured in acres on the acreage page. Residential snow removal in Durham Region on a standard village lot is priced from $129 a month plus HST.

Andrew answers, October 2026

Is the 3 cm trigger measured at my house or somewhere else?

On the route, not at an airport. Three centimetres is the depth at which a residential driveway stops being something you can drive out of, so that is where the number is set. Below it we are still out, but it is salt and the walkway rather than the blade, and that happens without you asking for it.

One of these goes on each page and it is replaced monthly. If the question you have is not here, ask it: 905-244-5779.

Send the address and say whether it is a village lot or a lane off Old Scugog Road. We reply the same day. Memberships start at $129 a month plus HST, and if the right answer for your property is a $45 windrow trip instead of a winter, I will tell you that.

Green in summer. Clear in winter.
