Accessibility Policy
How we provide lawn care and snow clearing in a way that respects the dignity and independence of people with disabilities: what we commit to, what you can ask us for, and how to tell us when we get it wrong.
Green in summer. Clear in winter.

1. Our commitment
Northline Property Care is committed to providing our services in a way that respects the dignity and independence of people with disabilities. We are committed to giving people with disabilities the same opportunity to use and benefit from our services, in the same place and in a similar way as other customers.
We are committed to meeting our obligations under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, Ontario Regulation 191/11 (the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation), and the Ontario Human Rights Code.
2. Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to every Northline employee, seasonal and part-time crew member, volunteer, and every person who provides goods or services to the public on Northline's behalf, including subcontractors.
3. Communication
We will communicate with people with disabilities in ways that take their disability into account. We will ask each person how they prefer to be contacted, and we will record that preference in their customer file and honour it.
If a customer asks for information from us in another format (large print, plain text, read aloud over the phone, by text message rather than voice), we will provide it in a timely way and at no extra cost, and we will consult with the person on what format works for them.
4. Service animals and support persons
A person with a disability is welcome to be accompanied by a service animal in any part of our premises that is open to the public, and on any property where we are working, unless the animal is excluded by another law. Where an animal is excluded by law, we will explain why and work with the customer to find another way to provide the service.
A person with a disability who is accompanied by a support person is welcome to have that person with them at all times, including at a site visit, a quote appointment or a walkthrough. We do not charge a fee for a support person.
5. Notice of temporary disruption
If a facility or service that people with disabilities rely on is temporarily unavailable, we will give notice as soon as we reasonably can. The notice will state the reason for the disruption, how long it is expected to last, and any alternative we can offer. We will give the notice by the method the affected customer prefers, and post it on our website where the disruption affects customers generally.
6. Training
We train every employee, volunteer and person who provides goods or services on our behalf on the requirements of the accessibility standards and on the Ontario Human Rights Code as it applies to people with disabilities. Training is provided as soon as practicable after a person begins their duties, and again whenever this policy changes. We keep a written record of the training we provide, including the dates and the names of the people trained.
7. Employment
We notify applicants and employees that accommodation is available on request throughout our recruitment, assessment and employment processes. We consult with any applicant or employee who requests an accommodation and provide accommodation up to the point of undue hardship. Where an employee has a disability that requires it, we provide individualized workplace emergency response information.
8. Feedback
We welcome feedback on how we provide services to people with disabilities. Feedback may be given by phone, email, text, in writing or in person, and may be given anonymously. All feedback is directed to the owner. We will respond within five business days and will use the same communication method the person used unless they ask for another.

9. Availability of this policy
This policy is available on our website and on request. We will provide it in an accessible format or with communication support on request, at no extra cost.
10. Changes to this policy
We will review this policy at least once a year. Any change that does not respect and promote the dignity and independence of people with disabilities will be removed.
Ask us for another format
If this page, your agreement, an invoice or anything else we send you is hard for you to read, tell us and we will provide it another way: large print, plain text, read aloud over the phone, or by text message instead of voice. There is no charge and you do not need to explain why.
Feedback on how we serve people with disabilities can be given by phone, email, text, in writing or in person, and it can be given anonymously. We answer within five business days.
