Seaton is why a Pickering route works
Seaton is still being built and sold in phases, so a whole street takes possession inside the same few weeks, which puts young turf on the front lawns and fresh pavement behind every car at the same moment. On most streets I quote, the houses arrived one at a time across thirty years. Here they arrive together.
That is worth something to you and not only to me. A street that closed in one month goes on the route as a street rather than as five separate stops, and a street gets finished before a stop does, in July and in February both.
Duffin Heights is newer build with good density. Amberlea, Rougemount, Highbush and Dunbarton are established and mature: heavier fall cleanups, and lawns that reward the full fertilizer and aeration program.

If you are away for the winter and only want the grass cut, twelve months of membership is the wrong shape, and I would rather quote weekly mowing at $75 a cut plus HST.

New sod on a brand new lot. What does it need in year one?
Less than you are about to be sold. New sod sits over subsoil a builder has compacted, so year one is watering and mowing: deep and infrequent water, and the first cut at three inches once it has knitted down. Skip aeration until the second September. Ontario banned cosmetic pesticides in 2009, so weed control here is height and patience.
How much salt goes down?
The least that will do the job. Pickering storm drains discharge to Lake Ontario and the runoff from an over salted driveway ends up there. Heavy salt also pits concrete and kills the turf along the edges.

Pickering is the hardest town in the region to quote from a postal code. In north Oshawa that means MacInally Court, Fleetwood Drive, Clearbrook Drive, Wadebridge Crescent, Iribelle Avenue, Surrey Drive and French Street. Further south it means Harris Avenue, Goodman Drive, Ritson Road South and Athol Street East. There are two commercial sites as well, one of them on King Street West.
Nineteen is not a lot and we are not going to dress it up. It is the first year. What it does mean is that every one of those driveways is on a route somebody can name, and that if your town says open above, you would be the first one on it rather than the last one served. Counted by hand from the client list and re-counted on the day a contract is signed.

Is the 3 cm trigger measured at my house or somewhere else?
On the route, not at an airport. Three centimetres is the depth at which a residential driveway stops being something you can drive out of, so that is where the number is set. Below it we are still out, but it is salt and the walkway rather than the blade, and that happens without you asking for it.
