Most properties are priced from the map. A real number the same day, no sales visit.

Owner operated, fully insured and HST registered, and run out of Oshawa. Nothing here is subcontracted out. Newcastle is the eastern end of the route, not an afterthought at the end of a price list.

Why the east end of Durham is quoted badly

Most contractors treat Newcastle as an extension of Bowmanville. Sometimes that is a surcharge that appears after the estimate. Sometimes it is a quote that was never costed against the distance and quietly slips down the list in a bad week. Often it is a company that takes a Newcastle customer in October and then serves them last all winter.

The honest version is this. Distance is a real cost and it is priced into the membership up front rather than added later. Newcastle properties sit in the route sequence by tier, like every other property, and the storm order does not change with how far out a property is. The same run covers Bowmanville earlier in the morning.

Where we run in this corner of Clarington

Newcastle village

The core around King Avenue and the subdivisions north and east of it. Older properties near the core carry mature trees, tight frontages and a heavy autumn leaf load; the newer streets have wider driveways and open exposure. Two properties four minutes apart can be genuinely different jobs, which is why we quote on the driveway rather than the postal code.

Orono

A smaller village north of the 115 corridor, with older homes, deeper lots and, in places, gravel or part gravel driveways. Gravel is worked with the blade set so the surface is not lifted, and the first clear of the season is where that gets set properly.

The Clarington rural edge

The concession roads between the villages, where driveways stop being driveways and start being laneways. These go on the estate bands rather than being guessed at one at a time, and some of them get an honest no: a very long laneway can take more of a storm morning than the rest of the street can afford to give it. An open field to the west means drifting, and drifting means a second pass after the wind drops.

What winter looks like out here

Clearing starts at a measured 3 cm on the ground, with no call needed from you. Platinum runs first against a 6:30 AM target, Gold against a 7:00 AM target, and Silver receives an afternoon windrow pass, by 5 PM, rather than a morning clear. Targets, not promises. Whichever plow passes your road leaves a ridge across the foot of the driveway, and on a laneway with a wide mouth that ridge is the heaviest work of the storm.

What it costs

One membership carries both seasons: $129, $189 or $279 a month plus HST, taken in twelve equal payments on the last day of the month, with no lump sum and no deposit. Silver does not plow the driveway and takes the windrow on a daytime pass. Gold and Platinum plow it in full. Prepaying the year saves 5 per cent. See all three memberships.

This is the launch season and it runs to August 23, 2027: 30 per cent comes off a new member's first month, before HST. Offers do not stack, one per customer per month.

Frequently asked questions

Do you do snow removal in Newcastle, Ontario?

Yes. Northline serves Newcastle, Orono and the rural edge of Clarington. Snow clearing runs November 1 to May 1 on a 3 cm trigger.

How much does snow removal cost in Newcastle?

Three memberships: $129, $189 and $279 a month plus HST, in twelve equal payments, each covering snow and lawn. Per visit clearing in this market runs roughly $79 to $129 a time, driveway only.

Can you clear a long rural laneway?

Often, and it is quoted on the property rather than off a price list. If yours is one of the few that takes more of a storm morning than the route has to spare, we will say so at the walk around.

Do you clear gravel driveways?

Yes. The blade is set so the surface is not lifted, and that is settled on the first clear of the season. Tell us it is gravel when you call.

Lawn care and snow removal in Newcastle, inside Clarington

Lawn care in Newcastle and grass cutting in Newcastle are the same weekly visit from May 1 to November 1: edge, then mow, then trim, on a fixed day. Lawn mowing in Newcastle is one of those three jobs, and lawn maintenance in Newcastle beyond the weekly cut is quoted first. Property maintenance in Newcastle across both seasons runs on one membership. Hedge trimming in Newcastle and the other work outside the weekly cut are quoted before any of it starts, on the add ons page.

Newcastle is part of Clarington, and snow removal in Clarington is how most of this area searches for the winter half. Clarington covers Newcastle, Courtice, Bowmanville and the hamlets between them, and Bowmanville is the nearest town with its own snow page.

On the route, counted October 13, 2026

Nineteen properties, and which towns are still open

In north Oshawa that means MacInally Court, Fleetwood Drive, Clearbrook Drive, Wadebridge Crescent, Iribelle Avenue, Surrey Drive and French Street. Further south it means Harris Avenue, Goodman Drive, Ritson Road South and Athol Street East. There are two commercial sites as well, one of them on King Street West.

Nineteen is not a lot and we are not going to dress it up. It is the first year. What it does mean is that every one of those driveways is on a route somebody can name, and that if your town says open above, you would be the first one on it rather than the last one served. Counted by hand from the client list and re-counted on the day a contract is signed.

Andrew answers, October 2026

Why is the morning clearing time a target rather than a promise?

Because a promise about the morning is a promise about the weather, and nobody can make one of those honestly. What I can promise is where you sit in the route and the order the route runs in, and both of those are published on this site. In eighteen years of Oshawa data the worst winter had twenty four clearing days and the mildest had four, and a promise written to survive the worst of those is a promise priced for it. A target I actually hit is worth more to you than a promise I have quietly priced the risk of breaking.

One of these goes on each page and it is replaced monthly. If the question you have is not here, ask it: 905-244-5779.
